Second Partie scribe

The name of convenience refers to a copy of the Second Partie of the Middle Dutch Speculum historiale (Spiegel historiael) in the manuscript Vienna, Österreichische Nationalbibliothek, Cod. 13708, fol. 33r-205v, which was written by this scribe. E. Kwakkel was the first to use this sobriquet. He argued that the scribe was a member of the Herne Charterhouse. In earlier scholarship this scribe is referred to as the librarius or scribe of Rooklooster. Many of the books he copied ended up in the latter institution, but according to Kwakkel they were not produced there, nor was this scribe in charge of the library or the scriptorium in Rooklooster.
